What galvanized before and after weaving mean
Galvanized before weaving (GBW) uses wire that has already received its zinc coating before being woven into fabric. Galvanized after weaving (GAW) applies zinc to the woven fabric. The process name should appear alongside the required coating mass and acceptance specification.
Neither abbreviation is a complete durability promise. The installation environment, coating requirement, manufacturing quality and handling all matter. For the product range, compare 4 ft, 5 ft, 6 ft and 8 ft galvanized rolls.
What black vinyl / PVC coating adds
Colour coated chain link is commonly specified with PVC over galvanized steel wire. Industry suppliers distinguish coating application methods such as extrusion, extrusion with adhesion and fused adhered coating. A black appearance alone does not identify the process or its thickness.
Ask for the colour sample, galvanized core diameter, finished outside diameter, PVC thickness and adhesion requirements. If a tender names a coating class or standard, send the exact requirement for review instead of assuming that every black roll meets it.
Which finish should an importer stock?
Choose galvanized fabric when buyers request a metallic mesh and the quotation meets the required zinc and wire specification. Choose black PVC coated fabric when the colour is part of the customer's landscape or property brief. Treat these as separate SKUs with clear labels and packing identification.
For a distributor programme, start with the heights customers actually order. Compare 4 ft black, 5 ft black and 6 ft black rolls. Green is another colour option: use the 6 ft green PVC roll enquiry and approve its shade separately.
Compare prices on the same basis
Keep height, length, mesh opening, steel core diameter, edge finish and packing consistent. Then compare the zinc and PVC requirements and the named delivery terms. A black roll with a thinner core is not an equivalent steel specification merely because its finished diameter looks similar.
Use the bulk roll price guide to separate mesh material, framework, packing and freight. No fixed coating premium is appropriate without the actual configuration.
Inspection and handling
Agree checks for opening consistency, wire size, top and bottom edges and coating condition. Inspect wrapping, roll ties and the contact points that may rub during transport. Use the approved sample and purchase specification to resolve colour or finish differences before shipment.
For coastal, industrial or other demanding environments, state the exposure conditions and any project requirements with the RFQ. A generic finish name is not sufficient to predict a service life.

Select a model from the C11–C21 metric specification table, then state the required finish and colour separately. A model number and dimensional row do not establish galvanizing method, zinc coating mass, PVC thickness or colour availability.
Keep the selected wire, mesh, length and height fixed when comparing finish quotations. Confirm core and finished diameters so the coating comparison does not hide a change in steel wire size.
