High Tensile or Low Carbon Barbed Wire?

The correct choice depends on local installation practice, fence length and buyer preference.

High Tensile Barbed Wire

Stronger wire at a smaller diameter for long cattle and ranch fence runs.

  • Common 14 or 15.5 gauge options
  • Lower steel weight per unit length
  • Suitable for tensioned perimeter systems

Low Carbon Barbed Wire

Heavier, more flexible wire for traditional farm fence installation and repair.

  • Common 12.5 gauge option
  • More forgiving during hand forming
  • Suitable for general farm boundaries

Confirm for an accurate quotation

  • Nominal wire diameter and permitted tolerance; high-tensile and low-carbon wire are separate specifications.
  • Required tensile or breaking-strength range and the agreed test method—do not infer performance from gauge alone.
  • 2-point or 4-point barb geometry, barb spacing and tolerance, plus net coil length.
  • Coating type, applicable standard, coating class or measurable zinc requirement where specified.
  • Net and gross coil weight, handle or wrapping, label, pieces per pallet and destination port.
  • MOQ is one 20ft container (1 × 20GP). Lead time, FOB or CIF basis and final loading quantity are confirmed for the selected order.

Order-specific quality and shipment records

  • The agreed QC plan can cover wire diameter, barb spacing, coil length, coil weight, surface condition and packing count.
  • Order photos, inspection records and loading documentation can be requested before shipment.
  • Independent pre-shipment inspection can be coordinated for eligible bulk orders when agreed before production.
  • Reports apply only to the identified batch or sample and are not presented as blanket certification.

Link each coil specification to its batch evidence

Order checkEvidence to compare
Wire and barb geometryMeasured strand / barb diameters, points, spacing and net coil length, with sampling method and acceptance limits.
Coating and tensile requirementsApplicable method, units, identified sample or batch and agreed specification; a report for another product does not establish this coil’s result.
Packing and dispatchActual coil / pallet dimensions and weights, label, package count and packing-list reference for the approved order.

Download the barbed wire batch and packing checklist (CSV). Use the blank worksheet to request and compare records before release.

Planning note: Coil weight, pallet quantity and container loading are confirmed only after wire diameter, coating, packing method and route payload limits are agreed.

Standards boundary: ASTM A121-22 covers metallic-coated carbon steel barbed wire made from a two-wire strand and recognizes multiple coating types, coating weights, constructions and grades. KUNYU identifies an order as ASTM A121 only when the applicable construction, coating type and class, test requirements and documents are agreed in the purchase specification. “Class 3” alone is not presented as a fixed service-life guarantee.

Custom Specifications & Published Market References

KUNYU FENCING manufactures custom barbed wire for importers and distributors. Send your specification, reference product sheet or sample to define strand and barb diameters, steel type, spacing, coil length, coating, labels and export packing. KUNYU will confirm the order specification, sample requirements and quotation before production.

Approve the specification, then verify the shipment

Agree separate strand and barb diameters in mm, tolerances, coating material and acceptance method, tensile or breaking-load requirements, and net coil length. Record net wire weight separately from handles, wrapping and pallet tare. A quoted target becomes a shipment result only after the identified batch is measured or tested.

Download the KUNYU specification matching worksheet (CSV). The worksheet starts with our four published models and leaves buyer changes, agreed values and measured results separate. Send it with quantity and destination to eric@kunyufencing.com.

MOQ: one 20ft container (1 × 20GP); mixed-model allocation, production timing and the loading plan are confirmed in the quotation. Brand-specific guarantees, approvals and shipping services belong to the referenced supplier.

Bulk Barbed Wire Price Comparison & RFQ

How should importers compare barbed wire prices?

Compare barbed wire quotations on the same specification, net coil length, currency and delivery basis. A lower price per roll does not necessarily mean a lower cost per usable metre. A price per tonne also cannot be compared fairly without net wire weight and coil length. Keep technical compliance separate from price: normalizing units does not make different coatings, steel grades or constructions equivalent.

Quoted basisComparison calculationCheck before using it
Price per roll / coilPrice per 100 m = coil price × 100 ÷ net coil length in metres.Use net wire length, not package dimensions. Record the length tolerance separately.
1320 ft roll1320 ft = 402.336 m; price per 1000 ft = coil price × 1000 ÷ 1320.Use this conversion only for a quoted 1320 ft coil. Confirm the supplied length against the order.
Price per metric tonneEquivalent coil price = price per tonne × net wire kg per coil ÷ 1000.Use 1000 kg per metric tonne. Exclude wrapping, handles and pallets; a gross shipment weight will distort the comparison.
Delivered order costComparable cost per 100 m = total cost on the chosen delivery basis × 100 ÷ total net metres.Include each agreed cost once. Separate product, packing, freight, insurance and applicable destination charges; do not compare an FOB product quote directly with a delivered quote.

For a like-for-like comparison, hold strand and barb diameters, tensile requirements, points, barb spacing, coating material and acceptance requirements constant. Use the technical specification matching worksheet to record exceptions first. Compare the confirmed compliant offers on price afterward.

Request the commercial details that a specification sheet misses

Ask each supplier for the same currency, quantity and named delivery location, with the trade term and edition stated. Record quotation validity, payment milestones, packing inclusions, production timing and the trigger that starts that timing. Distinguish production completion from dispatch and arrival estimates.

Before ordering, agree inspection scope, sampling and acceptance limits, who pays inspection or retesting costs, and how shortages or nonconforming goods will be handled. Request the supplier's written warranty or claim terms and any exclusions. These are items to negotiate in the order, not automatic KUNYU commitments.

Download the three-supplier barbed wire quote comparison worksheet (CSV). It provides blank columns for your requirement, three offers and the evidence or exception to resolve. Prices and terms are intentionally blank; the worksheet is not a quotation, test report or certification.
